The Caliber workout app is free to download, and its free version lets you build and log your own workouts. Caliber sells two upgrades on top of it, Caliber Plus, which adds coach-designed plans and more tracking, and Premium Coaching, which pairs you with a coach of your own. The facts on this page come from Caliber's website, its App Store listing and its help centre, and each source is listed at the end of the page with the date it was checked.

What Caliber costs

Caliber's website and its App Store listing name the tiers without giving their prices. The prices Caliber publishes itself are in a guide on its help centre, last updated in June 2024.

  • Caliber Plus costs $12 a month or $72 a year.
  • Premium Coaching costs from $200 a month.

The same guide lists a third paid tier, Caliber Pro, at $19 a month, which adds a group coach, a group chat and a new four-week plan each month. The App Store listing today names three tiers, a free version, Caliber Plus and Premium Coaching, so Pro may no longer be on sale, and prices set in 2024 may have moved since. Check the current price with Caliber before you pay.

Caliber Plus is cancelled from the subscriptions page of the Apple or Google account that pays for it, at least 24 hours before it renews. Premium Coaching is billed month to month, with no long-term contract, and it begins with a short consultation form about your goals, experience, time, equipment and food preferences, after which you are assigned a coach.

What the free version includes

The free version gives you unlimited workouts that you build and track yourself, more than 800 exercises with video tutorials, private workout chats with friends and family, and a link to Apple Health for cardio, food, steps and body measurements. There is also a way to send your training data to ChatGPT or Claude for analysis.

Every workout in the free version is one you build yourself, which suits someone who already knows what to train and wants a tidy place to record it.

What Caliber Plus adds

Caliber Plus adds more than 120 coach-designed training plans to choose from, a Strength Score that rates your strength against your potential for your age and gender, a Strength Balance view across the main muscle groups, lessons on training and nutrition, nutrition targets, custom exercises and supersets, exercise swaps and progress photos.

The plans are written by Caliber's coaches, and you pick the one that suits you from the library and follow it on your own. A coach of your own comes with Premium Coaching.

What Caliber's one-to-one coaching includes

Caliber's App Store listing says Premium Coaching gives you a dedicated one-to-one coach, a training and nutrition programme the coach designs for you, messages and video messages in the app, video form reviews and a weekly progress review, and that the coach is available at any hour and typically replies within a few hours. Caliber's answers to common questions add that you reach your coach through live video calls, and video and text messages in the app, and that the coach checks in several times a week at the least, including a full weekly review of what you did and of the plan for the week ahead.

Caliber offers a 30-day money-back guarantee if you are not happy with the programme for any reason, and its App Store listing promises a refund of the programme's cost if you don't see results. To stop, you cancel by emailing Caliber's support team, and the coach stays with you until the end of the period you have paid for, with the app still yours to use afterwards.

The guide gives its prices in dollars. In the US, TriageFit costs $55 every 4 weeks, and the guide prices Premium Coaching from $200 a month.

What TriageFit gives you for the money

TriageFit starts with the intake, about half an hour of questions on your goal, the training you have done, any injury you are working around, the equipment you can use and the days you have for training, and you can save it partway and finish it later. From your answers TriageFit puts together a programme from four-to-six-week phases our coaches wrote, the phases keep cycling for as long as you train with us, and each session's exercises are picked for your kit and your experience. The same answers set a calorie target matched to your metabolism, with macros that adjust each week from your check-in.

Each week, on the day you choose, you send a check-in that already holds the sessions you logged, and you rate your energy, recovery, motivation, sleep and stress. The reply comes back within seconds, and a real coach reads the check-in as well. When you want a lift looked at, you film a set and send it, and a coach reviews it and tells you what to change.

Between check-ins the AI coach is there at any hour. When a session will not fit, because time is short, the equipment is taken or you are travelling, you tell it and it proposes a change, such as a shorter session, a swapped exercise or a different day, and the change goes in once you confirm it. You also train alongside a group with coaches in it, where questions to the coaching team are answered in the open, and the group runs challenges you can join.

If you wear a tracker, its data comes in by upload. TriageFit reads exports from Apple Health, Garmin, Whoop, Oura and Fitbit, and the recovery readings in them shape how hard each session asks you to work.

A year of the same four workouts

A warehouse supervisor on early shifts has logged the same four home-made workouts in the free Caliber app for a year, and the numbers stopped climbing months ago. They look at Premium Coaching, decide it is more than they want to spend, and join TriageFit instead. In the intake they put down the early shifts, a knee that grumbles on deep squats and the gym near the depot that they can reach three afternoons a week, and their first programme puts its sessions on those three days.

In the second week a double shift takes their Wednesday. They tell the AI coach, it proposes moving Wednesday's session to Saturday, and the move goes in once they confirm it. They film a set of Romanian deadlifts for a form check, and a coach replies with one thing to change. At Sunday's check-in the Saturday session is already listed, they rate their energy low, and they mention the double shift.

What TriageFit costs

TriageFit costs €50 every 4 weeks or €500 a year, with VAT included, and the same 4 weeks cost £45 in the UK and $55 in the US. The block plan has no contract, you can cancel it whenever you want, and you can pause it for one to three months if you are injured or away.

Which one fits you

The free Caliber app suits someone who writes their own training and wants somewhere to log it, and Caliber Plus suits someone happy to choose a plan from a library and follow it alone. Premium Coaching earns its price if you want live video calls and a coach messaging you through the week. If what you want is a programme built from your answers, your food and recovery coached alongside it and a coach reading how each week went, TriageFit does that for €50 every 4 weeks.

How to start

Choose a plan on the pricing page, create your account and pay, and the intake opens. Online personal training walks through a week of the coaching, the weekly check-in shows what you send and what comes back, and online strength coaching is written for anyone training to get stronger. What a personal trainer costs and what an online personal trainer costs set other prices beside TriageFit's.
